ASSESSMENT

Testimonials

Our son was starting to slip behind in reading and math in 2nd grade, and yet we knew he was smart and capable —it was distressing. Dr. Weiss tested him over a few sessions, and we learned that he had an attention deficit that could be helped enormously with medication. I’m so glad we had him tested when we did, and didn’t let it go on any longer. After a few days on medication, he said “reading is so much easier.

TOM AND JENNY, PARENTS OF A 2ND GRADER

My daughter was assessed by Dr. Weiss a year ago and diagnosed with ADHD. During the testing Dr. Weiss was encouraging and supportive. My daughter, who can be shy at times, felt comfortable in all the sessions. After the assessment Dr. Weiss provided her findings and recommendations. She was not only willing to review them with me but also with the school, as well as my daughter. Her recommendations have helped my daughter’s teachers make the appropriate arrangements to ensure my daughter’s success. I now see my daughter approaching her school work with confidence and achieving better grades than she did before.

PARENT OF A 3RD GRADER

School is stressful, and standardized testing is stressful. Then, the feeling of worry about performance, especially when my scores were below average compared to my peers, was most stressful. Going through with neuropsychological/educational testing gave me insight into my strengths and challenges as a student and thinker. Dr. Weiss provided thorough and specific results and interpretation, and was able to provide me with strategies, resources, and support in order to achieve my academic potential regardless of my neuropsychological/cognitive profile. In high school, throughout college, and in grad school, I was able to use this knowledge of myself to be successful in school and now in my career!

Despite initial apprehensions about getting tested, Dr. Weiss immediately put my concerns to ease with her calm demeanor and unmatched expertise. I have now been tested twice by her (once as a Sophomore in high school and once as an adult) and each time the process is welcoming, substantive, and has helped me overcome various challenges. She has gone above and beyond TWICE for me and her service does not end once the testing is complete, like many other psychologists. It is important to understand that testing is a process and Dr. Weiss guides you through with nothing but grace and sensitivity. Plus, we shared plenty of laughs along the way.

A HARVARD-WESTLAKE SCHOOL GRADUATE

What I love about referring clients to Dr. Weiss for testing is that she takes a thorough and meaningful look at the child diagnostically.  When the available diagnostic categories do not quite capture all of a child’s profile, she uses the qualitative sections of the report to make sense of symptoms or to explain how features of a disorder may be present even if a child does not fit a full diagnostic profile. Those nuances allow clinicians and educators to understand, remediate, and accommodate students who don’t fit neatly into the boxes offered by the DSM.  Since we continue to learn more and more about the role and impacts of social-emotional development in learning, Dr. Weiss' practice as a psychotherapist keeps her expertise in that area honed, so she is very well-suited to catch important psychological pieces that affect cognition.

We are very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Weiss for our teenage daughter.  Dr. Weiss evaluated her for learning difficulties and diagnosed a reading challenge that had gone overlooked in prior assessments. These evaluations are involved, multi-day undertakings, and can be intimidating to children and adolescents. Dr Weiss is a warm and compassionate professional, whose personal touch and empathetic nature allows children to quickly feel at ease. She is thorough and insightful – she delivered the results of her assessment in terms we could understand and was generous with her time. Our daughter and we felt incredibly comfortable in her capable hands.

PARENTS OF A HARVARD-WESTLAKE STUDENT

She is incredibly warm, professional and knowledgeable in demeanor, creating a comfortable and peaceful environment. Our daughter took to her immediately, putting us at ease amidst a stressful testing process and deadline. From scheduling to testing to communicating results, Dr. Weiss was exceptional every step of the way.

PARENT OF A 5-YEAR-OLD

I can’t express how blessed my son and I were to find Dr. Weiss! From the first meeting I had with her to discuss my son and his challenges I knew we were in the best hands! Her knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD is incredible.  My son was diagnosed with ASD at the age of 4 however was in need of an updated educational and neuropsychological evaluation.  Dr. Weiss was very detailed and at the same time so understanding of him and his need for movement and breaks during the sessions. She scheduled the sessions with the length of time that was best for him... She had such a kind and compassionate demeanor, which made it easy for my son to open up to her and communicate. Her report was incredibly thorough from her diagnosis in addition to her recommendations for services and support and therapy.

PARENT OF 17 YEAR OLD PALISADES CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT

Dr. Weiss has truly been a godsend for our son and our family! I had posted earlier about her amazing gift of patience and understanding working with our son who was diagnose with ASD at the age of 4, he is now 17 and we are still faced every day with new challenges especially regarding his academic accommodations for school and testing! After submitting Dr. Weiss's evaluation, we were granted 100 percent additional time on standardized tests! This is critical for his success! The SAT will give him two days to complete the test, much needed with his disability of ASD and ADD combined. Dr. Weiss’s spot-on evaluation of his challenges will give our son an opportunity for success not a failure in his future educational endeavors and throughout his entire college career. Thank you, Dr. Weiss!

Testimonials

Dr. Weiss was an impactful and special person in my daughter’s life during a crucial point in her social development. She was engaging, calm, supportive and thoughtful in her approach. My daughter always felt comfortable and looked forward to their time together. The incredible growth over our sessions was not only rewarding but also monumental. Dr. Weiss was also a great resource for parents and caregivers. We feel lucky to have had her in our life.

PARENTS OF A 1ST GRADER

Dr. Weiss first saw my son when he was a junior at a highly competitive private school.  Although he was performing well in school, he felt he was struggling in subjects where he previously didn't.  After meeting with Dr. Weiss, she suggested he get an assessment.  It was through the assessment and therapy that he discovered he had a learning disability (which was previously masked because his intelligence was able to carry him).  Dr. Weiss has such a calming and caring presence. Through therapy with Dr. Weiss, my son more fully understood his learning difficulties and how to work around them so much so that his senior year he thrived.  Dr. Weiss was very responsive and always able to offer additional insight to me which, as a parent, I've found so helpful.  I highly recommend Dr. Weiss without hesitation!

A PRIVATE SCHOOL PARENT

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Weiss. She’s intelligent, insightful, and clearly cares a lot about her patients. She is compassionate, smart, and an empathetic listener. She has  great passion and ability to help her patients navigate through their challenges with strength and without judgment.

PARENT OF A COLLEGE STUDENT

I came to Dr. Weiss with one issue in mind, but she helped me identify and work through multiple challenges over the years including insomnia, anxiety and the many downstream impacts. She always offered a unique perspective with a relatable and natural tone, which helped me see things in a different way and make adjustments in all areas of my life.
