Macklin works with young people navigating anxiety, mood concerns, attention and executive functioning challenges, self-esteem, trauma, and the ordinary and extraordinary transitions of growing up. She also partners closely with parents, because children tend to do best when the adults around them feel supported too.
"warm, strengths-based, and client-led"
Her approach is warm, strengths-based, and client-led. She draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, and both directive and non-directive play therapy, meeting each child at their own age, interests, and pace. Sessions are meant to feel collaborative and human rather than clinical, where a young person can feel genuinely known.
Macklin earned her Master of Social Welfare from UCLA, with a
concentration in Child and Family Wellbeing, and has provided
individual, group, and family therapy across school and community
settings.
